Prior to going away I went and saw my local pharmacist and told her, she said many of the GPs were giving their patients Ostelin which is a calcium, vit D & K combination taken once daily. Seemed a sensible suggestion to take this supplement while I figure out which direction I want to go. She also said that from her experience Prolia is well tolerated by patients and hasn’t observed any of the side effects that you read about.
All encouraging information. |
I went away taking with me the information that my GP printed out, the Ostelin pills and my laptop. The reason for my journey was to drive 1700kms (1056 miles) to my Father’s house because it was about to be sold (he died in January this year) my brother and I had to remove the contents ready for the new owners and more importantly say goodbye to him and the community he lived in for the last 15 years of his life.
I promptly, put my head further down in the sand….. for a while. |
My gut said I really don’t want to go onto Prolia YET but I also know my GP is super keen for me to get onto it asap.
Don’t get me wrong, I respect my GP’s opinion but I have a few but what ifs? |
Firstly, I’m only 59, isn’t there something I can try before this?
Do I have to take Prolia for life? What happens if I don't?
What if I suffer from the documented side effects?
What if I want to travel overseas for long periods?
What if I suffer from the documented side effects?
What if I need major dental work done?
|
I couldn’t go back to the GP and say ‘NO’ without a plan.
So I put it off again.
